First Doctor Visit

Calen's first doctor visit was the Friday after he was born so 6/22/2012. He weighed 7lbs 3oz and was 19 1/2 inches long. We figured out that the hospital measures him with his toes pointed and that is why he was 21 inches when he was born. Then the doctors office measures flat footed and so he was shorter! You would think they would have one way of measuring but they don't...crazy system!

Me waiting for the doctor and nurses to come in. It was feeding time for Calen so he cried the entire time he was awake! Here he is eating my hand cause that makes him feel better!

We went in and took off his clothes and measured his length and that is when he started crying then we went and put him on the scale and took off his diaper and he was still crying. We waited in the room for probably 10 minutes and the doctor came in and talked to us all while Calen was still not happy! I did feed him and he was happy and went back to sleep! It is a tough life of a newborn! :)

Newborn Pictures...

We had him at Park West Medical Center and they have a company called Bella photography come by the day after and take the baby's picture. So the lady came by and put pillows at the end of my bed and then a sheet over them and took the pictures! Calen was so alert and did such a good job we just had to get them! :) So here they are:

The Day has arrived...

I was scheduled to be induced on June 19th, so we had our bags packed the night before. We got up and took our showers and headed off to be at the hospital at 5:30 that morning!

We got to the hospital and immediately they got me in the bed and started my IV. I had 3 nurses get me checked in and they were laughing that you don't normally get that much attention but we guessed it was a slow morning at the maternity wing!

Then the waiting  began I was in the bed by 5:45 with my IV started and then they came in at 8:45 to break my water. She asked if I wanted the epidural then. I said as soon as I can have it would be great. Then they informed me I had to have 2 huge bags of fluid before I could have the epidural so we waited again... Finally at 10:10 they came in and gave me the epidural!

We waited some more... with company though!

I dilated to a 10 and the nurses were busy with a c-section then and since I had an epidural they delivered another girl before me also. So I had 2 women deliver before they came in to deliver Calen. It was not a big deal to me since I couldn't feel the contractions except for the part where Calen would shove a foot in my left rib cage! At 2:20 the Doctor came in and kicked out our parents and they got me ready to deliver. I pushed roughly 9 times and 

Calen was here at 2:42.

I was freezing after I had him! It is so weird how your hormones go all crazy and 1 minute you are burning up and the next you are freezing!

 Calen Isaac came at 2:42 p.m. on June 19th, weighing 7lbs and 12 oz, He was 21 inches long, and with red hair. 

Maternity Pictures...

We had our pictures done by a professional before Calen was born! I was 36 Weeks along and he did an amazing job with everything. We went to the Farragut library for most of them and then he took some of our nursery! Here are most of them!
