Update on Puppies

Puppies will be 6 weeks old on Monday so I am going to to take them to the vet and then the ones that are sold will probably go home then. :( We have 4 that are taken right now. My family is going to take 2 (1 female, Evie, and then a male, Kibo) . We have sold 2 other males. The one we call Blacky, because he has a black collar is sold to a gentleman that lives on a farm and he is actually the guy who does all the warranty work for the company that built our house. Then the other one is the puppy with a black collar that has paw prints on it. He is going to a guy who is buying a house and wanted a dog to go with it. I am taking a ton of pictures right now trying to get the perfect ones. So I have a lot of pictures.

Three days old.

Fence Project

On May 21st we sold my car and decided to use part of the money to build a fence. We have been talking about getting one ever since we moved into the house. So on Sunday May 29 we rented a auger and dug out holes for the post and set each post with concrete. And by we I mean Zane and Mike did a lot of the hard work and Teresa and I carried the posts to each hole and tried to help with as much as we could. It took all day because evidently we don't have dirt in the back yard it is all rock and it was extremely hot that day. So we didn't get done as much as we thought we would on the first day but Mike and Teresa  came back over and Jonathan came the next weekend early on Saturday June 4th to finish. Christi (a friend from college) came into town that weekend to see the puppies and helped us finish the fence. Lots of sweat, nails, and boards but we had fun. Took some pictures of the event.

After holes were dug.

Teresa and I unloaded all the wood while the guys dug holes.

Post are set ready for another weekend of work.

The next weekend, Jonathan nailing while Zane holds the picket.

Me nailing while Mike holds the picket. I think everyone did just about everything it just whether or not we got a photo to proof it. :)

Part of the finished fence.

We are still not done as you can see we are missing a gate but we will work on that as soon as Zane has some time off again. Also the fence is level we just have a problem of the ground is not so we will probably have to buy dirt to fill in some of the holes under the fence to keep the dog in it.

First Harvest

The other day (June 10th) we were out watering the tomato plants and had 3 cute little cherry tomatos ready for harvest. So let Summer begin and bring on the tomatos. :)

Puppies

Our Puppy is having puppies... :) We had talked about breeding Aspen with my parents dog, Titan. So the middle of March we watched Titan for the week. That was definitely an adventure I will one day hopefully forget! ;) We counted the days and knew Aspen was supposed to have pups on May 19th. The weekend before the 19th we had a plan to set up a "nursery" for her in the garage. It was so interesting to see her start nesting in the house that weekend. I would leave a room and then find her in the back of the closet or behind a chair in the corner. We knew we need to work fast before she had those puppies in my bed! So we put her in the garage Sunday night, May 15th. I went to work the next day and when I had gotten home she had 6 puppies (talk about a close call). I was so excited, I sat in the garage with her that night for like 6 hours I think. It was so fun to watch her automatically know exactly what to do with each puppy. Her 7th puppy came out not breathing and I was told to breath in his nose and rub him. Aspen started doing that before I even knew what to do. Then Zane and I took turns with the little guy and never could get him to breath. After all was said and done we had 6 healthy males and 2 healthy  females. I kept picking up puppies and trying to decide what they were and they were all the same it seemed like, but I finally found a couple of females.

The day before the pups came she had gained 20 pounds.

Exhausted after labor.

Sweet Momma Love.

Their first feeding.

Snuggling.

 So sweet.

So little when they are first born.

Trying to compare then to Aspen's foot.

White Water Rafting

So I am just going to skip all around and hopefully one day catch up. :) This past weekend we went white water rafting with our Sunday school class. It was the most adventurous trip I have made down the river. The weather was amazing, blue skies, not too hot but hot enough that it made the water feel great. We were in the red raft and they were testing it for the summer. It is a more durable raft because it has a lot more rubber on the bottom however that also means that it will stick to every rock you go over. Each time we went over a rapid our raft would stick and go flying a different direction and was hard to stay in the raft. There is a place where it is calm and everybody gets out and swims so when we got there our guide flipped the raft so we all went swimming. Then all got back in the raft to go down more rapids. We got to this one rapid and we were all paddling no big deal and our guide turns the raft and centers a rock. We sat at this rock and watched the other rafts go by they bumped us and we didn't move. We all got to the back of the raft and the raft still didn't move so our guide sends us to the front. We now are all crammed into this little area and our guide is standing on the side bouncing up and down pulling on the back of the raft. One of the other passengers looked at his wife and said I am afraid of what is going to happen when we get off this rock. We all agreed. We knew what was coming next, the raft then goes in slow motion end over end and we all tumble out and down the rapids with no raft. No one got seriously injured we all had a couple of bumps and scraps but we all got back in and headed off down the river some more. Zane got to "ride the bull" a couple of times. On the last rapid Zane was riding the bull and we were going down with no problem then we start going backward/sideways down and I look back to see why and our guide is out of the raft swimming down the rapid. So I just had to tell every one else by screaming "we don't have a guide anymore" they all thought that was the best quote of the day.

This was the other raft with our Sunday School.

Our Tree

I figured I would go back a little to when we planted our tree on May 14th so all of the pictures are from that day. I have always loved dogwood trees and this spring the pink dogwoods were absolutely gorgeous and I told Zane I would love to have one in my front yard one day! So he asked for one for his birthday from his parents. I am not sure who was more excited to have it. :) I tried to document the day by taking some pictures so here are a few of them.

The tree knocked Zane over and Aspen had to check on him.

Then she had to check on the tree.

The Tree is Planted and I can't wait to see it next spring.

Zane being a tree. :)

Here is a couple of pictures of our tomato plants as of May 14th.
